But they do enhance the experience to varying degrees. TL DR: No, I don't think you need the EPs to enjoy the game. For the latter I highly recommend Lazy Game Reviewer's sims 3 expansion pack reviews. Check out Carl's Sims 3 guide on the expansions, some Youtube reviews if you don't feel like reading and make your own decision. You don't ever need all of them (in fact, too many EPs would slow down your game due to how much it must keep track of).
#Do you need the sims 3 to play the sims 3 deluxe mods
Note that some mods require a handful of EPs to function correctly, but most of the them are not.Īs an aside: if you enjoy the Sims 3, you might want to try out some of the EPs. If you want more sim customization, there are mods, lots and lots of mods. Without seasons perpetual summer can be dull, but for the most part its impacts on your sims are only moderate and can be lived without your teens will not prank the adults without generations, but sims still grow old, kids still go to school, and adults still go to work UNI ain't for everyone and for the sims 3 it's no different. Ideally I'd recommend Seasons + Generations + University Life for a "complete" experience.
but other than some admittingly nice but non-vital additions, none of these EPs is needed for enjoying the game. Every other EPs are just catering to your different tastes. But you can export your household and import them when starting in a new town (I think you don't get to keep their special traits and the funds however). You are, however, mostly confined to the town you started in.
The EPs do add to the experience, but you still get the open world life sim without them.
